The development of capitalism in post-reform Russia affected all aspects of society. This process directly affected the periodical press, contributed to the emergence of new features and features, modified the old methods and forms of work in the field of the press. Since the end of the 19th century, a constant trend characteristic of newspaper publishing in Russia has been the steady increase in the dependence of a number of publications on large capital and the transformation of many periodicals into typical profitable enterprises. Revealing the social essence of bourgeois newspapers, V. I. Lenin wrote: "Capitalism turned newspapers into capitalist enterprises, tools of profit for the rich, information and entertainment for them, tools of deception and deception for the masses of the working people." 1 These features of the Russian press became especially noticeable when Russia entered the period of imperialism. The largest periodical bodies, primarily newspapers, took the form of joint-stock companies and partnerships, and turned into a kind of capitalist companies.
In the works of Soviet researchers, the class character of the bourgeois press is thoroughly revealed and the role of individual publications in different years is shown .2 At the same time, there are still a number of "white spots"in the coverage of the socio-economic aspects of the bourgeois press, the methods and methods of publishing printed bodies, and the evolution of publishing. Speaking of the fundamental difference between the workers ' and bourgeois press, Lenin pointed out as a characteristic feature of bourgeois newspapers that they are "supported by large capitals." 3 It is this support, the concrete connection between such printed publications and capital that we consider using the example of two newspapers - Novoe Vremya and Russkoe Slovo.
