4. On a steep climb
But not only our factory in the first year of the third five-year plan dramatically increased the production of guns and successfully coped with the tasks of the government. In general, 1938 was the year of successful work of many defense enterprises, in particular artillery. The production of guns increased sharply and amounted to 12,687 units per year, while in 1935-1937 it averaged an average of 5,020 units per year1 .
Enterprise teams competed with each other and made high socialist commitments. Rolling red banners were established. They were awarded quarterly to advanced factories. The famous Bolshevik factory, which celebrated its 75th anniversary in 1938 and was headed by a prominent engineer, young and energetic director Dmitry Ustinov, became famous throughout the country for its labor successes. Before the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, D. F. Ustinov was appointed People's Commissar of Armaments of the USSR. During the war, the armament industry increased defense output many times over and fully met all the needs of the front. Now D. F. Ustinov-Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPSU, candidate member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the CPSU. On February 8, 1939, the Bolshevik plant was awarded the Order of Lenin, and 116 of its best employees were awarded orders and medals. The young artillery company, whose director since 1938 was I. A. Mirzakhanov, also became famous. On February 5, 1939, this factory was awarded the Order of Lenin, and 78 of its best employees were awarded orders and medals.
